William T. Connors

Bill Connors was born to Thomas and Clara Connors in Queens, NY. He and his sister Patricia grew up in Vancouver, WA where Bill raised his own family with his wife, Adela , until the early 1970s. They then relocated to Bogota, Colombia and later to Hialeah, FL. Bill and Adela have lived in Royal Palm Beach since 2000.

Bill served for four years in the US Air Force and met Adela while stationed in New Orleans, LA in 1955. Following his military service, Bill had a lifelong law enforcement career with the cities of Portland, OR and Hialeah, FL, retiring in 1997.

Concurrently, Bill had a distinguished 55 year career in the sport of boxing. His involvement in boxing began in childhood under the guidance of his father, Tom Connors, who was a former professional boxer. Bill worked as a boxing coach and professional referee, officiating and judging fights around the world including over 60 championship bouts. Bill coached the Royal Palm Beach PAL Boxing Club for 21 years, providing mentorship to countless young people through this sport. In 2012, Bill was inducted to the Florida Boxing Hall of Fame.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Adela Connors. Bill and Adela's romance and devotion to each other is family legend. Together, they raised four children, Patricia Hollar and husband Robert, Jennifer Connors, Michael Connors, and Daniel Connors (now deceased). Their grandchildren are William Hollar and wife Kseniia, Meghan Mettler and husband Jeffrey, Mathew Connors and great grandson Konstantin Hollar. They also have a dear step grandaughter, Amber Defino, and two step great grandsons, Dylan and Brody Defino. Bill and Adela have a large extended family of nieces and nephews whose lives they have touched.

Bill will be remembered for his hilarious sense of humor, love of family gatherings, golf, music and dancing, and always being there for people who need him. One of his last observations to Adela was that they would leave the earth a better place because of the loving family that they raised together. We will miss him terribly. As Bill often said, "Hasta la proxima..", "Until next we meet..".

Bill will be laid to rest with Military Honors at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida. The day and time of services will be announced by Tillman Funeral Home & Crematory, West Palm Beach.
