William F. Becker

March 6, 1935 — June 4, 2025

Tequesta, Florida

William Franklin Becker was the unexpected second twin of Beatrice Sexton Becker and Otto Becker born on March 6, 1935. He and his twin brother Dick, his older sister Jeanne and eldest brother Phil grew up in Lake Worth, Florida. He served in the United States Navy from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1959.

He met the love of his life, Letty Serra Lacagnina at UCLA in the mid 1960’s. He graduated from UCLA with a Master’s in Theater Management and moved with Letty to New York City where they were married at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Two years later, they welcomed their daughter Alexandra. Bill and Letty fully enjoyed the 45 years they had together living in Greenwich Village before moving to Tequesta, Florida in 2018.

Bill had a meaningful career in New York in Human Resources and Organizational Development, working for companies such as Esteé Lauder, and multiple financial institutions, before becoming an independent consultant. He was the author of a book and various articles on best practices within the industry he loved and knew so well.

He enjoyed golf and taking his daughter to Mets games in New York City during her childhood. He looked forward to every football season with fondness for Notre Dame. He loved good smelling flowers and majestic sunsets, pistachio ice cream and anything chocolate. Most of all, he loved the many family dogs that brought such love to his life. They were always small, fuzzy, and demanding. But he cherished and catered to each one of them. In his final days, he would look forward to visits with his grand dogs, especially Stella a dachshund, whom he particularly adored.

Though he grew up Lutheran, Bill was received into the Episcopal Church in 2022 and became an active member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Tequesta, Florida. There he made numerous friends and became a part of a community that was a meaningful part of his life.

Bill would repeat two phrases throughout the course of his life that well summarizes him. The first was, “We’re all just passing through,” a testament to his deep faith in heaven and God. He knew that life itself is the true liminal space. He also believed that the point of life was to “Leave a place better than you found it.” Bill, you sure did.

Bill is predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Letty Serra Becker and grandson Raymond Peter. He leaves behind his daughter Alexandra Serra-Wolfington, son-in-law Harry Wolfington, and countless colleagues, friends and extended family who made up his life. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 3pm at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church at 400 Seabrook Road in Tequesta, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Florida Bulldog Rescue at https://www.flbulldogrescue.com/wish-list
