Terrance John Nagel

April 23, 1954 — July 18, 2021

Nagel, Terrance “Terry” John, age 67 of Greenwood, Minnesota passed away on Sunday July 18th, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends in his final days at Bethesda East Hospice in Boynton Beach, FL. He is survived by his college sweetheart and wife of 43 years, Jill Agri Nagel; loving  son, Brian Nagel; caring daughter, Amanda Nagel; Aunt, Shirley Sturgeon; brothers, Tom Nagel (Mary); Robert Nagel (Karen); Mike Nagel (Kris), multiple cousins, nieces and nephews and his loyal canine companion Georgina Agrippina.

Terry’s life journey started when he was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa on April 23rd, 1954. Shortly after Terry’s birth they moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where Terry’s legacy began. He was always a caring and fun-loving boy who quickly grew up to be an all-star athlete at any sport he played. Terry was always the “cool” older brother that would goof around with you but would also put a life lesson in his jokes and short stories.

It was no surprise that he was recruited to play Division 1 ice hockey as a defenseman for Providence College (PC) ‘76. He played under Coach Lou Lamoriello and presented with the Unsung Hero Award. At PC he made countless friends and most importantly; it is the place he met his future wife, Jill, who couldn’t resist his Midwest charm. After graduation, Terry went on to play professional hockey in Visby, Sweden. He travelled the world, lived in a Kibbutz, and even learned to speak Swedish.

Terry and Jill were married in 1978 where they spent 43 years building a beautiful life together. They went on many adventures from Martha’s Vineyard to Asia. They shared a love for golf, and they were members at golf clubs in Minnesota and Florida. One of Terry’s proudest moments was when they won the Mr. & Mrs. Club Championship, 2015 at the reputable golf course, Hazeltine National.

Terry was a well-known successful businessman. He was instrumental in starting and eventually selling the company, NOW Technologies. This endeavour linked him to life-long friendships with distributors and customers around the world. He and his partner then purchased and recently sold Savillex Corporation where Terry became President of this world-wide company which received many accolades under his leadership. Savillex Corp. was presented, The Presidents “E” Certificates for Exports award for their outstanding contribution to the export expansion program of the USA. The company was also featured in the Minneapolis and St. Paul Business Journal as the “Small Manufacturer of The Year”.

He was beloved by his community and always gave back. He taught classes on Business Entrepreneurship at St. Thomas University, he volunteered as the ice hockey coach for his daughters’ Minnetonka Youth Team, he sang the national anthem at her high school games and helped many girls progress their careers to college. He served as Mayor of Greenwood, MN (2003 & 2004) and contributed to his local parishes.

Terry will always be remembered for his genuine smile and his gift to bring people together. Terry cherished his time with his kids and would never miss a night of games, boating, singing Bruce Springsteen songs or a trip to the ice cream shop. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. He leaves us with great memories that will always have a place in our heart.

Until we meet again, your loving family.
