Susana spent her youth in Mississippi and most of her adult life in Florida. As a migrant worker,
Susana traveled all across the United States – Texas, Washington, Pennsylvania, Michigan,
Mississippi and Florida. She loved Florida the most, but she once said if she had to live anyplace
else, it would be her birth state of Texas. Susana was born on May 24, 1937 to her father Pablo
Valverde Sr. and mother Maria Avila. She is survived by her brother Pedro Valverde Sr. and her
children Christopher, Raquel and Maria. One of Susana’s favorite pastimes was sewing. She
enjoyed making quilts, curtains and clothing for family members. Along with her family, her
relationship with God was the most important thing in her life. She was born into the Catholic
faith and was reborn as a Christian later in life and is now united with her heavenly Father.
