Susan Ann Santoro, 76, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away on March 9, 2026. Susan’s Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 27, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Boynton Beach, where she was a devoted parishioner for several years.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Louis Santoro, her children Alison (Kyle) Kohloff, Dane Santoro, and Lindsay (Eric) Steiner, and her cherished granddaughters Aubrey and Kelsey Kohloff, and Shay and Zoe Steiner. Her family was the center of her world, and she embraced motherhood and, later, grandmotherhood with a joy and devotion that defined her life. She had a gift for nurturing others, always offering care, comfort, and a listening ear to anyone who needed it.
For the last 25 years, Susan worked as a medical aesthetician at Skin & Cancer Associates in Delray Beach, where she built not just a successful practice but a community. Her patients became friends, and her coworkers became family. She touched countless lives with her kindness, her warmth, and her ability to make people feel seen and cared for.
Susan grew up in Schenectady, New York, where she formed lifelong friendships that brought her joy throughout her life. A proud 1967 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, she went on to study dental hygiene at Erie Tech in Rochester and spent 20 years as a pediatric dental hygienist, a role that perfectly suited her gentle, nurturing nature. She cherished the memories of birthday celebrations, holiday picnics, and vacations shared with these lifelong friends she grew up with and loved and considered family.
Although she was an only child, Susan was surrounded by a large and lively extended family; her mother was one of sixteen children, and her many first cousins filled her childhood with constant companionship. Among them, her cousin Karen held a special place in her heart; the two grew up more like sisters, and their bond remained strong throughout Susan’s life.
She also had a deep love of travel and adventure. In recent years, she and Lou explored Italy, cruised the Mediterranean, journeyed to Alaska, and enjoyed many trips to Aruba with the extended Santoro family. They frequently returned “home” to Schenectady to visit friends and family, nurturing the relationships that meant so much to them. And every winter, when loved ones escaped the cold and visited Florida, Susan welcomed them with open arms, and often with one of her famous facials.
Susan lived a life filled with love, generosity, and connection. She created a home where everyone felt welcome, a workplace where people felt valued, and a family that will forever carry her spirit forward. Her kindness, her laughter (she loved to laugh), and her unwavering devotion to the people she loved will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Susan lived her entire life with asthma, a condition she faced with strength and resilience. In the end, the many years of managing this illness placed too great a burden on her heart. If you prefer, instead of flowers, the family kindly invites donations to the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America in her memory. If you would like, please visit aafa.org to contribute.
