Stephen (Steve) Quinn Salansky Sr.
Stephen (Steve) Salansky, age 71, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2025, at one of his favorite places—Okeeheelee Park, where he spent countless days riding his bike and hiking, enjoying nature and the outdoors he so loved.
Steve was born on August 17, 1953, in Bethesda, MD, to the late George and Mildred Salansky Sr. In the 1970’s, he moved to Florida, where he met his wife, Sharon Thatcher. He worked over 30 years for the United States Postal Service, from which he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Salansky; his son, Robert (Rob) Salansky; his step-daughter, Shannon Armstrong; and the memory of his son, Steven Salansky Jr. Steve is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: William (Tyler) Armstrong, Alexandria (Lexi) Armstrong, and Hunter Marie Armstrong. He also leaves behind his siblings, Becky Lewis of Damascus, MD; George Salansky Jr. of Black Mountain, NC; and Betsy Knowles of Derwood, MD; along with his loyal canine companion, Buddy.
Steve found peace and purpose in the natural world. He always loved to fish, hike, camp, and care for his plants. Steve loved to watch Okeeheelee Park grow and flourish, becoming a part of its quiet rhythm as he visited the park daily. It is a poignant testament to his love of the outdoors that the park was where he spent his final day.
Steve will be remembered fondly by extended family and many friends who will miss his warmth, kindness, and calm presence. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Tillman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2170 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach, FL.
