Stephen “Steve” Thomas Marron, of Singer Island, Florida, passed away at the age of 59. Born on June 19, 1966, in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Short Hills, New Jersey. Steve had a big heart and an entrepreneurial spirit. Steve was a graduate of Oratory Preparatory School in Summit, where he played varsity soccer and tennis. Steve attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison and then embarked on a successful and varied career that showcased his dedication, vision and hands-on approach.
Steve first made his mark in the construction industry as a builder and foreman. He built many beautiful homes throughout New Jersey and his attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship was second to none. Never one to rest, Steve pursued his interest in weightlifting and fitness, channeling his energies by bringing together a strong community of friends and launched Steve’s Gym in Florham Park, N.J. After establishing a thriving business, Steve sold the gym and moved onto his next ventures, founding and growing Marron Maintenance and ESM, which were commercial property maintenance and sweeping companies. Steve successfully sold both businesses and retired to Florida. When Steve wasn’t building something, he could be found working on his latest sports car or fishing on a boat in south Jersey or in Palm Beach. Always stylishly dressed, Steve brought his own special brand of cheer and comedy when gathering with friends or playing a round of golf.
Steve’s entrepreneurial drive was matched only by his love for family. He was predeceased by his beloved father and stepmother, Thomas Joseph Marron and Mary Irene Marron and his brother-in-law, Michael R. Cline. Steve is survived by his cherished daughters, Ella Marron and Charlize Peters, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his mother, Virginia E. McGrath. His sisters, Alysia Marron Cline and Mary Irene Chodaczek and her husband,Timothy. And he is survived by his brothers, Justin F. Marron and his wife Kailey; Jay Thompson and his wife Ruth; Christopher Thompson and his wife Rosie; Tucker McGrath and his wife Courtney and Ted McGrath. Steve leaves behind a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends who will miss his generous spirit and his big dimple smile.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church located at 50 Short Hills Avenue, Short Hills, New Jersey on Monday July 21st, at 11:00am.
