Sonia M. Cordero

Sonia Marie Cordero, age 78, of Greenacres FL passed away on September 22, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Sonia was born on August 6, 1947, in Neptune, New Jersey. She attended catholic school in Asbury Park, graduating from Asbury Park High School in 1965. In 1979 she moved to Florida with her 2 children where she pursued an education as a paralegal specialist and worked for the State of Florida for over 15 years before retiring. Sonia was a strong, independent, self-willed woman who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved the beach, had a passion for plants, was a reading and word puzzle enthusiast, and often volunteered at a local soup kitchen, the public library and with Hospice relieving caregivers for respite care. 

She is survived by her son Gregory (Cheryl), and daughter Kimberly, 4 grandchildren; Crystal (Jeremy), Makenzie (Victoria), Madison and Domani. 3 great grandchildren Maddox, Leo and Elena. Sister Toni (Hank). As well as other extended family members and many friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Donna and parents Thomas and Emilienne Varnum. 

A private Celebration of Life for the family will be held the week of October 12th near her sons home in Howard, Ohio. For local friends there will be a mass held for Sonia, Saturday, November 8th, 2025 at 5:45PM at: St Matthew Catholic Church 6090 Hypoluxo Rd Lake Worth, FL 33463 In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in memory of Sonia to the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation.
