Robert Brown “Bob” Barnes, 60, passed peacefully while visiting South Africa with his wife, Ramona Barnes on 13 June 2025.
He was born and raised in Delaware and spent most of his adult life in Florida, where he quickly fell in love with the ocean and met his wife and two sons, with whom he’d spend the rest of his life.
Bob was the owner of Barnes Inc. for thirty-five years, a highly successful construction company based in south Florida. His tireless work ethic and quality craftsmanship earned him a positive reputation among his clients and his community. He frequently volunteered his resources to help those affected by misfortune, most recently those affected by Hurricane Idalia in 2023. Prior to this, he served honorably as a deputy for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
Bob was a hard worker and lived to do for others, but he also had a deep passion for life. He loved fishing, boating, lobstering, scuba diving, and anything else to do with the sea. He loved his food and drink, working out, and gatherings with friends. He loved football, race car driving, and his dogs. But most of all, he loved his family.
Bob is survived by his wife and soulmate of thirty-five years, Ramona; their two sons, John and Joshua; and their grandson Daxton.
Per his wishes, a small viewing will be held with close family on Sunday, June 29, 2025.
