Raymond Edward Burns

December 4, 1949 — January 6, 2023

Raymond E. Burns, age 73, born in Chicago, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on January 6, 2023, the day of his 50th wedding anniversary.

Raymond, fondly known as "Ray" was born to Bernard and Charlotte Burns on December 4, 1949.

Him and his wife built a life and love that was noticeable to all who knew him. There are no words to describe their relationship other than it was the most kind, patient and understanding one. They were soulmates through and through and they stood by each other's side thru the good and bad times no matter what life threw their way. They had a once in a lifetime type of love, the one fairytales are made of.

Aside for the love he had for his wife, he had a love for sports. If there was a baseball, football or basketball game on you better believe he was watching them and always rooting for his Chicago teams. His favorite baseball team was the Cubs and he was their #1 fan. Nothing made him happier than watching them win the World Series. He not only loved to watch sports but also play them. No matter how old he was he would never turn down the chance to play a softball of basketball game with his family and give everything he had to win.

He will always be remembered for his unique sense of humor as he was always playing pranks on everyone he knew. He had an infectious smile, laugh and personality. He just had a way of lighting up the room the moment he entered. To know him was to love him and he left an imprint on the hearts to everyone who had the opportunity to meet him.

Ray is survived by his wife Carmen and his children, Cindy (Gonzalo) Gomez and Bernard (Annette) Burns, along with grandchildren, Stephanie (Ron) Ayoola, Anthony Butera, Samantha (Marcus) Hrpcha, Rachel (Andrew) Horsey, Matt Butera, Matt Gomez, "Ray Ray" Burns, Alexxis Burns and Bernie Burns, great-grand-child, Ace Ayoola, sisters, Nora Jean and Debi (Greg) Daniels. Ray was an uncle and friend to many.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Loretta Mich and Theresa Koga.
