Michael Patrick Cannon, a long-time resident of Ozone Park in Queens, NY who always had a cigar, lottery ticket and big hug for a friend, died on Jan. 4 in Loxahatchee, Florida following a bout with cancer. He was 74.

Known as "Mike" to family and friends, Cannon was born in Jamaica Hospital on June 21, 1946 to Joseph James Cannon and Arlene (Wasser) Cannon. He attended private academies in New York and was stationed in Hawaii while serving in the U.S. Army's 25th Infantry.

He is survived by son Michael Cannon of Rockaway, NY; daughter Kathleen Wolfe of Merrick, NY; brother Joseph Cannon, Jr. of Carson City, Nevada; granddaughters Morgan Cannon and Taylor and Mckenzie Wolfe; and the mother of his children Josephine Lombardo Cannon of Ridge, NY.

Cannon is remembered for his generosity and warmth. He enjoyed strolling the streets of New York City and visiting museums with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed dining with family, especially at Artie's in City Island, a favorite of his father.
