In Loving Memory of Mary Renda Zecher
Mary Zecher, 95, passed peacefully on New Year’s Day 2026, closing a long and beautiful chapter of a life defined by love, joy, and unwavering spirit. Born on September 5, 1930, in Newark, New Jersey, to Theresas Glaeser and Joseph Renda, Mary grew up with a strong sense of family and resilience that would guide her throughout her life.
On June 17, 1950, she married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Zecher. Together, they built a partnership rooted in devotion, laughter, and deep companionship. Their marriage spanned more than 67 years, a testament to their enduring bond, until Bob’s passing in 2017. Their love story remains one of the greatest gifts they shared with their family.
Bob and Mary raised their two children in Lake Worth, Florida, where Mary created a warm, lively home filled with activity, friendship, and the kind of hospitality that made everyone feel welcome. She embraced life with energy and enthusiasm—spending decades on the tennis courts, staying active well into her later years. Off the court, she was a true social butterfly, known for her full calendar of dinners, dancing, and card games with lifelong friends who cherished her bright spirit and quick wit.
Some of Mary and Bob’s happiest moments were spent at their home in the mountains of Waynesville, North Carolina. There, they found peace in the fresh air, beautiful weather, and quiet rhythms of mountain life. Those days—surrounded by nature, family, and simple joys—became some of their most treasured memories. Mary was grateful to spend her final years wrapped in the mountain scenery she cherished, surrounded by family who made every moment with her count.
Mary’s life was joyfully rooted in her unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior. Her belief was a source of strength, comfort and purpose throughout her life. She radiated grace, kindness, and compassion, living her life with a heart full of love and a spirit that lifted those around her. Whether through a warm smile, a thoughtful word, or a helping hand, Mary’s devotion shone brightly. Her spiritual legacy is one of hope, joy, and steadfast love—and it will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Holland, and son‑in‑law, Mark; her granddaughter Sarah and her husband Daniel; her grandson Garrett and his wife Jenny Clare; and her great‑grandchildren Anna Hilton, James Henry, and Willett. She is also survived by her son, Greg Zecher, and daughter‑in‑law, Emmy; her granddaughters Janet and her husband Philip, Chloe and her husband Bryan, and Jessica and her husband Brian; her grandson Cody; and her great‑grandchildren Madisyn, Ellie, Luke, Emorie, William, and Collin. Also survived by her nieces Yvette Barnett, Monique Barnett and Charlene Allfrey.
