Lucy Iulo

December 13, 1936 — June 11, 2025

Palm Springs, Florida

Lucia “Lucy” Iulo, 88, of Palm Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on December 13, 1936, in Sicily, Italy, Lucy was the cherished daughter of the late Antonina and Michele Ferruzza. She grew up in New York in a close-knit family alongside her siblings, Josie, Paul, Anna, who preceded her in death, and her surviving sister Jean, each of whom held a special and lasting place in her heart.

Lucy carried her Italian heritage with immense pride, grounding her life in tradition, love, and her unwavering Catholic faith. On June 15, 1957, she married the love of her life, Vito Iulo. Together for 68 years, they built a home rooted in devotion, joy, and family. Being a wife and mother was Lucy’s greatest fulfillment. She poured her heart into raising her daughters, Roseann Lander, Linda Romano, and Ellen Alessi, surrounding them with care, strength, and unconditional love. She joyfully welcomed her sons-in-law, Gary Lander, Peter Romano, and Michael Alessi, treating them as her own.

Her greatest joy was becoming "Grandma" to her grandchildren: Victoria Romano and her husband Ryan, Michael Alessi and his wife Julia, Michala Alessi, and Virginia Lander. She also had affection for her grand-pets, Pamela (Matilda), Marley and Max, Junior, Jesse, Teddy, Gus, and Luna, who brought her comfort and a source of laughter.

Lucy treasured her extended family and was a proud aunt to several nieces and nephews. She loved her family deeply and took immense joy in time spent together, especially during holidays and gatherings filled with laughter, good food, and storytelling.

Later in life, Lucy found great happiness with her husband, Vito, living in Palm Springs, Florida. She nurtured cherished friendships with her St. Luke Parish family and kindhearted neighbors. A woman of grace and beauty, she had a keen eye for art, enjoyed painting, and found comfort in music. Nature brought her peace as she delighted in tending to her flowers, watching birds, and spending time in her garden. She was an excellent cook, known for preparing delicious meals that brought everyone to the table and left lasting memories.

Lucy will be remembered for her loving spirit, gentle strength, artistic soul, and deep devotion to faith and family. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and all those she touched with her love and kindness.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Tillman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2170 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach, Florida. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Andrew Brierley at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 2892 South Congress Avenue, Palm Springs, Florida. Lucy will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway, South Carolina.
