Lowell Eldon (Skip) Olmstead, Jr. of Jupiter, Florida passed away on July 4th, 2026.
Skip was born in Englewood, New Jersey on March 27, 1952, to Lowell Eldon (Jack) Sr. and Irene Olmstead.
Skip grew up in New Jersey and Maryland until 1963 when his parents moved to Lighthouse Point, Florida in Broward County. His family’s love of boating and the water helped him quickly adjust and embrace life in Florida. Skip attended Pompano Beach Junior High School, and he graduated from Pompano Beach High School. Skip attended and graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in building construction in 1975. He was a lifelong devoted Gator.
In 1979, Skip opened his own construction company and specialized in luxury home building. In 1999, Skip along with a partner opened Courtyard Gardens, a 129-bed assisted-living community in Jupiter, Florida, which he owned until 2009.
In 1997, Skip had a profound spiritual encounter with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Skip became a disciple of Christ and proudly served God and local ministries. In these endeavors Skip traveled the world taking on new and exciting encounters with God. Skip served on numerous Christian boards including, Youth for Christ, J Ministries, Kairos Prison Ministry International, First Care for Life, Strategic Culture Initiatives, and Transformation Palm Beach County.
Skip was grateful for The Lord, and for the abundant life The Lord allowed him to live. He looked forward to meeting Jesus face-to-face in paradise. Skip is also grateful for the people he influenced in the name of Christ. Skip co-labored with God to help others discover Christ and be drafted into the family of God and into his kingdom.
Skip will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and many friends for his humor, infectious zest for life, his love for a good meal, fast cars, pets, and lifelong devotion to all things Gators.
Skip is survived by his wife of 35 years Elizabeth Ann Olmstead. Skip has one deceased sister, Dianne Maxwell, and one surviving sister Anna Lynn Baur. He is also survived by 4 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Skip’s life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach on Friday, July 31st at 10am.
