Katherine Alice Borgia

January 20, 1926 — December 23, 2025

Mrs. Katherine Alice Borgia, affectionately known as Kitty to her friends and family, passed away on 12/23/25 at her winter Florida residence in West Palm Beach, Florida. Born on January 20, 1926, in Middletown, New York, Kitty's vibrant spirit and compassionate heart left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her husband , Joseph F. Borgia who died 5/12/1992 , her parents Adolph Schutz, Alice Coger Sigler and brother Phillip Schutz.

Kitty and Joe met while she was employed at St. Luke's Hospital , Newburgh , NY when he came in to donate blood.

They were married July 6 , 1949 in St. John's Lutheran Church, Middletown, NY .

One of their finest accomplishments was restoring a home in Westtown, NY that was built in 1736. It was often called a " museum" by my fathers clients as he eventually established his accounting practice from his home office at the residence.

A proud graduate of Middletown High School in 1943, Kitty's dedication to her education was evident early on. Her academic journey continued at St. Luke's School of Nursing in Newburgh, NY, where she graduated in 1946. Kitty's commitment to her nation and her profession was demonstrated by her membership in the U.S. Nurse Cadet Corps during World War II. Her illustrious career as a Registered Nurse spanned over 50 years, most notably as a Nurse Manager. Kitty's exceptional leadership and genuine care for her staff earned her the highest respect, with many of her colleagues becoming lifelong friends.

Kitty's Lutheran faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and interactions with the love and grace she so naturally embodied. Her community knew her as a beacon of kindness and strength, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was honored to be the longest living member until her death.

Beyond her professional achievements, Kitty was an active member of the Montgomery Red Hatters Line Dancing group, where her enthusiasm and joy were contagious. An avid antique collector alongside her beloved husband, Joseph Borgia, Kitty relished the thrill of the hunt, traveling to Vermont, New Hampshire, and beyond in search of the perfect piece to add to their cherished collection.

Kitty's artistic talents were a well-kept secret, known only to those closest to her. She was a true renaissance woman, capable of creating beauty in any medium she chose, from stained glass to watercolor, oil painting, and fiber arts such as knitting and crocheting. Her masterpiece, a crocheted RN doll complete with a stethoscope, was an inspirational and heartfelt gift to her daughter Susan, also an RN, during the challenging times of COVID.

Those who knew Kitty would describe her as loving, creative, and courageous. She lived her life with a zest that was as infectious as it was inspiring, always pushing boundaries and exploring new horizons. Kitty's legacy is not only in the lives she touched as a nurse and a friend but also in the beauty she created and the laughter she sparked.

Mrs. Katherine Alice Borgia's memory will be cherished and kept alive by the countless lives she touched with her warmth, her art, and her unwavering courage. Her departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but the love and light she shared will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were privileged to know her. Kitty's journey on earth has ended, but her story — one of love, creativity, and bravery — will be told for generations to come.

She is survived by her daughter Susan Corbett and her husband William of Cuddebackville, NY. And grandson Archie Barberio . Kitty is also survived by her longtime companion, Joel Feinstein of West Palm Beach, Florida.

Funeral arrangements were coordinated by Tillman Funeral Home, West Palm Beach, Florida with transfer to Applebee McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY.

In lieu of flowers contributions in her name can be made to the Humane Society of Middletown, NY or St, John's Lutheran Church, Middletown, NY .

A graveside service will be held at the Town of Wallkill Cemetery , Middletown NY at the convenience of the family and a memorial at a later date at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mt. Hope Road, Middletown, NY with the pastor John Heidgerd presiding
