Jay David Kopp

Jay David Kopp died September 16, 2026.

He was born July 30, 1937 in Primghar, Iowa, to Claire and Grace Silver Kopp and grew up in Iowa and Minnesota.. He graduated from Worthington High School in Minnesota and earned BA and MBA degrees at the University of Minnesota.

He married Mary Patricia Read April 16, 1966. They lived in Omaha, Nebraska, Texas, Rhode Island and Florida. He treasured his family and his church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Pat Kopp, his daughter Wendy Kopp (Richard Barth), and children: Benjamin, Francis, Haddon, Georgina; and son David Kopp (Amy) and children: Ava, Amelia, Adeline, August.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10:00 AM Thursday, September 24, 2026 at the Basilica of St. Edward, Palm Beach, Florida, the Rev. Archimandrite Glen J. Pothier Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Burial will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach, Florida at 12:00 pm.

The rosary will be recited before Mass at the Basilica.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to the Basilica of St. Edward, Palm Beach, Florida.
