Grace Carol Kemp, daughter of Charles Ernest Tatham and Beulah Northey, was born on February 15, 1935. She was the 3rd daughter of five children: Lois, Ruth, Grace, Dave, and Paul. She is survived by her youngest brother, Paul.
Raised in a strong Christian home - her father, C.E.Tatham was a popular Brethren preacher - Grace spent most of her life devoted to serving the Lord. She attended Emmaus Bible School in Toronto, Canada and then earned her RN degree at Toronto East General Hospital. Later, she trained to be a midwife in England. All of this was with the intention of going to the mission field.
God had different plans for her though. In her twenties, at her father’s request, she moved to Nassau, Bahamas to start a Christian school: Kingsway Academy. The school is still thriving today, and Grace Kemp’s name adorns the elementary school building in her honor. It was in Nassau that she met and married Michael Kemp (1964), and had 4 children: Kimberley (1966), Kelly (1967), Kristopher (1969), and Kevin (1970). She is survived by her daughters, Kimberley Kemp; Kelly Howsare and her husband Rodney; her sons, Kristopher Kemp; Kevin Kemp, her daughter-in-law, Gina, and her grandchildren Micah, Maiah, Mikayla, and Milena.
Grace will be remembered as a loving, devoted mother and a staunch follower of Jesus Christ. During her lifetime, she was a nurse, a school teacher, a principal, and a dedicated Bible teacher. As a mother, she instilled a love of God within her children. Grace’s desire was always for the kingdom of God. Everything she did reflected her love of God and desire to serve Him. She looked forward to heaven, and she is now living the joy of being united to God, as well as many of her family members. She will be missed by her family, her friends, her students, and all that she influenced for the kingdom of God.
