Gloria-Jean Golden died unexpectedly on January 2, 2024 at her home in Delray Beach, Florida. Born in Queens, NY, in 1938, she spent much of her youth in Montauk, and formerly lived in Sea Cliff, NY. Gloria was the eldest daughter of Edward and Lillian Golden of Whitestone, Montauk, NY, and Delray Beach. Beloved mother of Melissa Wengler (Fred), JP Reali (Liz Ryan), Christopher Reali (Melissa). Grandmother to Allison Kenyon (Wesley), Jillian Arnold (Andrew Pedrick), Kathlyn Curtis (Colt’n), and James Reali. Great grandmother to Grayson Arnold, Nora and Lillian Kenyon, and baby boy Pedrick, arriving in March. She is also survived by her longtime partner, Jim Meyer of Delray Beach.

 She graduated from Queens College in 1959 with a BA in Fine Arts and Advertising. During her time on Long Island, Gloria was actively involved in Glen Cove Girl Scouts as a troop leader, serving as co-Editor of the Nassau Council of Girl Scouts Courier. Gloria was the Editor of the Sea Cliff Village Bulletin for five years, and very active in village politics. She served as a lector at St. Boniface Martyr Church for many years, and also sang in the choir. Much of her professional career was spent working as a dedicated employee for the Town of Oyster Bay. In 2002 she retired from her position as the Deputy Commissioner, Department of Human Resources. Gloria also served as Deputy Town Clerk; Deputy Commissioner, Department of General Services; and Deputy Commissioner, Department of Community and Youth Services. Gloria loved to travel and spent many of her retirement years traversing the globe.

Gloria was predeceased by her parents, her brother Edward Golden, Jr., her sister Lynda Golden, and a nephew Edward Golden III.
