Enoch “Aton” Dorvil was born on January 24, 1949 in the beautiful island of Haiti, the Pearl of the Antilles, to his parents Emile and Eulogia Dorvil. He was the fourth of nine close knit siblings. In 1968 he made the brave decision to make a new life in the United States following his oldest sister Maud. He settled into the hustle and bustle of New York. A year later he sent for his future wife Marie to join him in America from Haiti and two years later, in December of 1971 they were married. They welcomed their first child, a son affectionately known as Alex in 1972 and three years later a daughter would follow lovingly nicknamed Claudy.
In his years in America, Enoch attended college, worked as a chef for Chase Manhattan Bank, a taxi driver in New York and a driver for the Louise Graham Regeneration Center for disabled adults in St. Petersburg Florida which was an organization very close to his heart. Petit Manman Mari was also a religious organization that meant a lot to him in his later years.
A poetic, musical and romantic soul, Enoch had a passion for writing. He had a strong affinity for humanitarian concerns and philosophical discussions as well as spiritual matters. The topic of political discussions and work was often heard flowing from his lips as it was also one of his lifelong interests.
