Dorothy “Pauline” Hennigan Steffens, age 94, of Greenacres, Florida, beloved wife, mother, sister, (great) grandmother, and friend went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 14, 2025 after a brief illness.
Born January 15, 1931 in Port Arthur, Texas, she was the daughter of Rev. Rufus P. and Esther Hennigan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Donald P. Steffens on August 22, 2013, a daughter Ronda S. Steffens, and a sister Jo Ann Poole.
Pauline attended numerous schools throughout Texas and the South as her father started many Nazarene churches in the region, and the family was constantly on the move spreading the gospel. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and rarely missed a Sunday or Wednesday service.
Pauline was a member of the Florida Gardens Baptist Church and the “Primetimers”- a senior bible study group, which she attended often with her daughter Pat and closest friend Trudy. She loved to bake and enjoyed giving her desserts to others. In addition, Pauline enjoyed sewing/crafting numerous items for gifts and sale. The mountains of North Carolina brought her and her husband much joy and happiness - and they traveled there as often as possible. Her favorite meal was fried catfish. We are so thankful that she was able to enjoy this meal for the last time the night before her passing. But most of all, she loved her great-grandchildren and always remembered their birthdays, along with each and every holiday! There will be a huge void in our family as we navigate this new journey without her.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia A. Taylor (Steve) of Loxahatchee, FL; son, Paul D. Steffens (Lorrie) of Greenacres, FL; grandson, Joseph P. Steffens (Stephanie) of Cypress, TX; granddaughter, Audrah J. Schuchmann (Jonathon) of Oviedo, FL; granddaughter, Kelli (Mark) Hill of Kissimmee, FL; great-grandchildren, Alannah, Kolt, Lilly Schuchmann, Katharine Steffens, Ryan and Katie Hill; sister, Elaine (Travis) White of Grapevine, TX and many other relatives and friends.
