Dana M. McGovern

Dana M. McGovern, 88, of Greenacres, Florida, passed away on May 10, 2025. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 63 years, Joseph P. McGovern Sr., who predeceased her in 2021.

Dana and Joseph were married on September 27, 1958, and built a life full of love, laughter, and faith. Together, they raised five children and were blessed with twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

While raising their family in Cranford and Garwood, New Jersey, Dana and Joseph cherished being involved in their children’s many activities, proudly supporting them through life’s milestones.

Dana served as manager of Wilfred Academy of Beauty School, where she dedicated many years to helping teachers and students succeed in the beauty industry—a field she was truly passionate about.

Her life was one of service, family, and faith. Dana volunteered at Café Joshua, brought comfort to children through Project Linus by crocheting handmade blankets, and lovingly served as an aftercare teacher at Holy Name of Jesus School. Her former students continued to bring her joy long after, always greeting her with a heartfelt, “Hi, Miss Dana!”

She found happiness in the little traditions that made life sweet: Monday night bingo with friends, weekly exercise classes at Conviva, Friday night dinners at Tomatoes with family, Tuesday lunches at Duffy’s, where her signature 2-for-1 Moscatos never failed to bring a smile, and crossword puzzles, where she was the reigning queen.

A devoted parishioner and Eucharistic minister at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Dana lived her life with grace, compassion, and deep faith.

She was a loving wife, sister, aunt, devoted mother, cherished grandmother and “Gigi,” and a treasured friend to many.

Dana will be deeply missed by her brother, Danny; her sisters, Sharon and Maureen; her daughter, Dana; her sons, Tim (Kathleen), Joey (Sue), Brian (Laura), and Sean (Cindy); her grandchildren, Gianna (Brian), Joseph, Dougie (Morganne), Kayleigh (Brad), Timmy (Kara), Kory Rue, Rachel (Steve), Jimmy, Molly, Sadie, Jessica, and Joey (Andrea); her great-grandchild, Wyatt; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives & friends 11:30 am-1:30 pm Monday, May 19, 2025 at Tillman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2170 S. Military Trail, West Palm Beach, Florida. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, West Palm Beach, Florida.
