Clara Aurora Giraldo

Clara Aurora Riveros vda de Giraldo, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the age of 96.

Known as Clarita in the United States and Aurorita in her native country of Colombia. She was born on June 14,1926 to the late Clara Elena Carrillo and Joaquin Riveros in San Antonio de Tena, Cundinamarca, Colombia.

Predeceased by her husband Gustavo Giraldo Giraldo in 1965, her journey as a warrior began, to assure her five sons Mario Gustavo, Danilo Alberto, Julian (predeceased), Ivan Mauricio and Oscar Humberto could have a good foundation and a prosperous future.

Making the biggest sacrifice of her life, and with no options to survive in her native country, she came to the United States in 1972, leaving her sons in the loving care of her Aunt Laura (Avita).

After five years of separation, she won her first battle returning to Colombia with all necessary documentation to bring her sons and beloved Avita to the United States.

That was the beginning of a bigger war. The challenge to raise her sons in an unfamiliar environment. She worked long hours and days on end to keep her children fed and sheltered. Incredibly, there was always room for others, as she would offer her home to many friends and family in the same situation until they were established.

She was a warrior, a “Guerrera”

She won her war! Leaving her sons in a country of opportunity in the company of five grandchildren Ricardo, Monica, Camilo, Gustavo (predeceased) and Susana and three beautiful great-grandchildren Anthony, Nathan and Julian.

Her life story has been an inspiration to many who knew her. Her courage and devotion to her children have made her legacy one that will be remembered for generations.

The Memorial gathering will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Saturday, August 13, 2022 with the Service beginning at 6:00 pm at Tillman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2170 South Military Trail, West Palm Beach, Florida.
