Charles Leonard Stoddard, age 87, of Haverhill, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025.
Born on October 31, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Charles moved to the West Palm Beach area, where he attended Palm Beach Lakes High School, graduating in 1957. During his high school years, he played football and formed lifelong friendships with classmates, including Burt Reynolds, George Hamilton, and Chris Noel, connections that endured over the decades.
Charles proudly served in the Army National Guard until his honorable discharge on July 23, 1962. He enjoyed a distinguished career at Pratt & Whitney, where he worked for more than 35 years before retiring.
A dedicated public servant, Charles served on the Town Council of Haverhill and as Mayor for 19½ years, leaving a lasting impact on his community. He was an active and committed member of several fraternal organizations, including the Elks Lodge, Moose Club, Shriners, Fraternal Order of Police, and Masons. Additionally, he volunteered in the intake department at the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office and worked as a computer consultant at Palm Beach State College (formerly Palm Beach County Community College).
Charles was internationally certified as a gemologist and pursued a wide range of passions, including golfing, dancing, and traveling the world. He was an avid collector of coins, gems, minerals, and stamps. Known for his warm and sociable spirit, he cherished gatherings with friends for drinks, good conversation, and camaraderie-whether on the golf course or at one of his beloved lodges.
On February 16, 1961, Charles married the love of his life, Judith C. Stoddard. Together, they raised three daughters: Julie Rutter, Karen Morey, and Stephanie Pressley.
He is survived by his wife, Judith; his daughters; his grandchildren: Hunter Morey (Lauren), Gage Morey (Logan), and Samantha Mitchell (Brenden); and his five great-grandchildren: Jacob Morey, Charlotte Morey, Blakely Morey, Cannon Morey, Jeremiah Mitchell, and Lorelei Mitchell.
A celebration of Charles's life will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 6188 Belvedere Road, West Palm Beach, FL 33413.
Charles will be remembered for his generosity, leadership, and joy in bringing people together.
