Carlos Roberto Ipes, born on June 16, 1945, in Montevideo, Uruguay, passed away leaving behind a legacy defined by love, integrity, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was the beloved son of Erlindo and Olga Ipes, and the cherished husband of his beloved wife, Mirtha Ipes.
Carlos was a devoted father to Carlos Daniel Ipes(Maryanne), Gustavo Ipes and Carol Balet(Jeffrey), and a loving grandfather to Sonia Ploss(Tim), Andrew Mercado, Iliana Ipes, Marcos Ipes, Gabriella Balet and Great Grandfather to Lily Rey, Tristan Ploss, Shay Ploss. He will carry forward the light of his spirit in all of them.
A simple man in the most meaningful sense, Carlos lived with a full heart and an open soul. He found happiness in life’s truest pleasures: family, laughter, good conversation, and the beautiful game of soccer. Whether enjoying a fine scotch or a great wine sharing stories that captivated every listener, or standing proudly at the grill perfecting his legendary Asado skills, he created moments that became lifelong memories for those fortunate enough to be around him.
Carlos’s grandchildren were his pride and joy, and his love extended just as deeply to his nieces and nephews, whom he cherished as his own. He had a special place in his heart for children, and they were naturally drawn to his warmth, humor, and gentle spirit. To them—and to so many others—he was more than a grandfather or uncle; he was a guiding light, a teacher, and a friend.
Known for his wisdom and steady presence, Carlos always had the right words at the right time. His advice was grounded, sincere, and given with love. He was a man of honor and principle, someone who could always be counted on to do what was right. His strength of character and reliability made him not only a pillar of his own family, but a father figure to many beyond it.
To his children, he was more than a father—he was their best friend. A constant source of support, someone who never faltered, never wavered, and always stood firmly by their side.
Carlos Roberto Ipes leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in years, but in the countless lives he touched. His love, his lessons, and his example will live on through his family and all who knew him.
We are forever grateful to have had such an extraordinary man in our lives—a true example of what it means to be a father, grandfather, and friend.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, always.
