Betty Lou Budano

d. August 5, 2021

Betty Lou [George] Budano was called to heaven the morning of 05 August 2021, bringing her radiant love and joy.  Betty [aka “La Contessa”] was 84 years old.  She joins her beloved husband, Joe and leaves behind her children, Angela and Joe, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two nieces.  She will be remembered for her omnipresent smile, gentle nature and kindness towards all.  She was born in Philadelphia, PA, lived in New Jersey and spent the majority of her residence in Florida.  Despite early challenges, having lost her older sister at six months and her mother at nine years old; she lived at a convent, and with aunts, uncles and cousins.  These life experiences helped shape her strong will, her faith, and a great appreciation for family that served her well in life.  Her bedbound Mom offered focused home schooling that allowed her to skip second grade, sparking her brilliant mind and creative math skills.  At 19 years old, she was approached by a dapper chap but instead, demurely expressed an interest in his best friend.  Joseph was the love of her life and they married the following year.  The chap, Franklin, was rewarded with an introduction to Betty’s cousin, Anna and they remain the loves of their lives and the two pairs walked life’s path side by side until the end.  Betty’s quick mind for numbers lead to a blossoming career in accounting and payroll.  All her employers benefited greatly from her innovative payroll solutions and progressive implementation of pioneer work-from-home models.  Among these were Burns Country Inn, Plantation General Hospital, American Express and JM Family Enterprises for which she won numerous awards of excellence.  She was happiest at home putting on elaborate dinner parties with beautifully appointed festive tables.  The fortunate invitee would be bathed in love and provided a sensational feast, especially on epic Christmas Eve gatherings with family.  Along with Joe, they traveled extensively seeing all the countries on their wish list.  Annually they managed a trip to Italy to visit Joe’s sister Angela and family.  She survived breast cancer and showed her neurodegenerative disease how to live with joy. To have known Betty is to have loved Betty.  She was eternally committed to helping others in need, lifting the next generation to greater heights and being a devoted loving wife, Mom, Grandma, Nonna and Great Grandmother.  Her faith guided her and she filled our hearts until love overflowed.  Rest in peace and love La Contessa.
