Ella fue precedida por su esposo Florencio Zapata. Le sobreviven sus hijos, Edilma (Mel) Romas, Luis Eduardo (Lucy) Zapata, Ines (Tim) Probus, Horacio (Nancy) Zapata, Ligia Zapata, Fernando Zapata, Maria Helena (Jorge) Zapata de Villa, Marta Cecilia (Shawn) Persinger y Nubia (Michael) Carabelas. Ligia será recordada y amada además por sus 19 nietos y 6 bisnietos.
